Explore Hundreds of San Diego Attractions! Find what San Diego has to offer for YOU from this travel and party guide! Start your San Diego travel adventure from Coronado Island. Enjoy Downtown San Diego, California, to the hilt this New Year Eve!

San Diego is one of the largest cities in southern California and has a warm climate all year long. There is plenty of opportunity to have fun with family, friends or as a significant single!

San Diego is one place that you can have a lot of fun for less. Here are some of the events that you can enjoy without spending a lot of money in and around the San Diego area.

Coronado Island near Downtown San Diego:

Coronado Island has long been known as one of the top vacation getaways in California, often frequented by Hollywood celebrities. Famous visitors include Charlie Chaplin, Madonna, and Brad Pitt.

Coronado Island offers a relaxed environment, plenty of resorts and one of the most beautiful beaches in the state. In fact, the Travel Channel named Coronado Beach one of the best beaches for families in the world.

Here are a few tips that’ll help make your stay at Coronado Island the best it can be.

Hotel Accommodations:
Coronado Island is just fifteen minutes drive from our downtown San Diego hotels.

So it’s always a good idea to make hotel reservations in our downtown hotels Marina Inn & Suites, Pacific Inn & Suites, Point Loma Inn & Suites, Relax Inn & Suites, Vagabond HC Inn weeks in advance of your actual stay.

Booking your rooms online is especially effective at letting you avoid a lot of the hassles of making hotel reservations. It ensures that everything is ready for you upon arrival.

As for where to stay in Colorado Island, you have more than enough options, no matter what your budget or taste.

If you can, try to stay at one of the many Coronado Island hotels. It is a historic hotel that is frequented by a lot of big name celebrities and was the setting of the classic Marilyn Monroe film, Some Like it Hot.

There are also more affordable options that still offer comfort and luxury, like the Coronado Beach Resort, which has full condo suites with oceans views, kitchens, private balconies and rooftop spas.

Getting to Coronado Island:

If you’re arriving at San Diego by car, you can turn into the Coronado Bay Bridge off the I-5 Freeway. It’s a short but scenic drive over the bridge that offers a good photo op.

If you’re arriving at San Diego by plane, taking the Coronado Ferry is the best option. It’s a colorful and unique experience and also offers plenty of photo ops. The ferry runs every hour and is open from 9a.m. to 10p.m.

Take a Tour:

Taking a tour of the island after you’ve settled in is a great way to get acquainted with it. You can take a guided walking tour, which leaves from the Glorietta Bay Inn, or if you’d rather glide, take a guided Segway tour.

There are also pedicab tours by Coronado Pedicabs available.

Seeing the City:

Once in Coronado, you can go out to see the rest of the San Diego attractions by taking the Old Town Trolley that leaves from the island and makes a full loop around the city, stopping at all the best spots, including Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Historic Old Town, Horton Plaza and the Sea Port Village shopping centre.

Annual Holiday of Lights Drive Through Show:

If you are looking for the largest animated light show in the west coast, you have found it at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. There is a fee per car, but you get to drive through 400 different displays of lights at the fairgrounds.

This event is held from Thanksgiving Day until the day after New Year’s Day. It is an ideal way to celebrate the holidays with your family and the cost is only a nominal fee per car.

Sports fans will enjoy Petco Park, which houses Padres baseball, as well as Qualcomm Stadium, the home of Chargers football. You can have a fun afternoon or evening if these sports are in season.

It’s easy to get around the San Diego area, and there is a great deal to explore. You can always rent a car, but San Diego also has excellent public transportation. Trolleys run throughout the city, stopping at many of the city’s hotspots.

There is much to enjoy on a San Diego vacation. Get ready and go ahead and enjoy NEW YEARS EVE Parties at Downtown San Diego and the hotels.
