Perfect weather for pretty much twelve months out of the year downtown San Diego keeps drawing people to the sunny city year-round.
There are also the gorgeous beaches and plenty of other sights to see and activities to do. Here are some of the biggest tourist attractions you should check out next time you visit San Diego.
The Torrey Pines State Reserve
Here’s a unique piece of San Diego tourist info: If you’re up for a good hike, as any nature lover probably is at some point during their vacation, head over to the Torrey Pines State Reserve.
The reserve is host to the rare Torrey pine as well as to a variety of chaparral wildlife, including foxes and coyotes. The hike is pleasant and rewards you with some absolutely breathtaking views of the Pacific Coast.

The San Diego Harbor
The San Diego Harbor is the home of the San Diego Maritime Museum, a wonderful collection of four impeccably preserved historic sea vessels. There’s the famous “Star of India” which is one of the oldest working sail ships in the world.
There’s the “HMS Surprise” which is an authentic 18th century Royal Navy frigate that was featured in the movie <em>Master and Commander</em>. There’s also a fairly affordable Harbor Cruise that takes you out to the water so you can get a view of the coast from sea.
Sea World: Downtown San Diego
The famous amusement park never fails to delight the whole family. There are water rides, huge aquariums and exhilarating animal shows to attend. The sheer colorfulness and variety of all the things you can see at Sea World is overwhelming.
The Gaslamp District
If you’re in need of a good night of drinking and dancing, then the Historic Gas lamp District in the heart of Downtown San Diego is the place to go. You’ll find some of the best live music, bars and dance clubs in town, all within a short walking distance of each other. And cab service is, of course, readily available.
Balboa Park
The Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre urban and cultural center. There are always special events being hosted at one of the Park’s 10 world-renowned museums.
There are nine botanical gardens, an open-air playhouse with a replica of the Old Globe Theatre of Shakespeare’s day, as well as the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
Once you’re done with the gardens and museums, you can dine at one of the many upscale restaurants and visit some of the Park’s gift shops for souvenirs
